Yael (yah-EL) is a Hebrew name meaning "ibex" — a mountain goat known for finding sure footing on impossible terrain. The name also belongs to a woman of fierce courage in the book of Judges who didn’t just survive a crisis; she ended one with a tent peg and a whole lot of grit.
